The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) announce the search for Editor-in-Chief of a new journal, Open Forum Infectious Diseases (OFID), to be launched early in 2014 and published, with The Journal of Infectious Diseases (JID) and Clinical Infectious Diseases (CID), by Oxford University Press. As a fully Open Access journal, OFID will be positioned to consider articles directly submitted to it for peer review, or cascaded from CID or JID along with reviewer comments, as well as articles in a special track for Fellows of IDSA (FIDSA).
OFID will provide a global forum for the rapid publication of clinical, translational, and basic research findings in a fully open access, online journal environment. The journal reflects the broad diversity of the field of infectious diseases, and focuses on the intersection of biomedical science and clinical practice, with a particular emphasis on knowledge that holds the potential to improve patient care in populations around the world. Fully peer-reviewed, OFID will provide the international community of infectious diseases experts a venue for articles that further the understanding of all aspects of infectious diseases.
IDSA has appointed a Search Committee to receive and review applications and nominations, which will be due via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 16, 2013. Short-listed candidates will be informed of their status by September 13 and will be interviewed during IDWeek in San Francisco, on October 1, so please hold this date.
The successful candidate will be announced shortly thereafter, with duties to commence during the 4th Quarter of 2013, including assembling a team of Associate Editors, training on the web-based peer review system, coordination with the CID and JID Editors-in-Chief, and solicitation of articles for a launch date during the 1st Quarter of 2014.
