Stop Physician Payment Cuts: 21% Cuts Are Planned Beginning January 1, 2010
|
Urge Congress to Act! Last minute Congressional action forestalled physician payment cuts during 2008 and 2009. However, due to the flawed physician payment formula, the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), physicians will continue to be threatened with average yearly cuts of 5 percent for the next several years beginning with a projected 21 percent payment cut in 2010. While Congress has applied Bandaids to address the problem for the past several years, the time for temporary pay fixes is over.

Help Us Urge Congress to Guarantee Medicare Beneficiaries Access to Antimicrobial Infusions at Home
|
Urge Congress to Act!
One of IDSA’s long-standing legislative priorities has been Medicare coverage for antimicrobial infusion therapy services that are provided in the home-setting, also known as home infusion therapy. Many ID physicians play a critical role as providers of home infusion therapy services, including pharmacy and care coordination services, to privately insured patients. Unfortunately, Medicare beneficiaries still do not have access to the services and supplies associated with home infusion therapy, including pharmacy and care coordination services, and medical supplies and equipment. As a result, IDSA recently joined a coalition of medical specialty societies, pharmaceutical companies, and patient groups to urge Congress to enact the Medicare Home Infusion Therapy Coverage Act of 2009 (S. 254 and H.R. 574), which would provide Medicare beneficiaries with meaningful access to home infusion therapy services.
