IDSA comments on the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) Draft Recommendation Statement on Screening for Hepatitis C Virus Infection in Adults. IDSA requests USPSTF to change the conservative grade of "C" to "B" in order to identify approximately 800,000 new infections and save 121,000 lives.

IDSA Comments on the Proposed Rule for the Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems (IPPS) (PDF)

IDSA comments on the 2013 proposed IPPS rule, which continues to incorporate elements of the Hospital Inpatient Value-Based Purchasing Program (VBP). IDSA and HIVMA Express Full Support for Hep C Birth-Cohort Screening Guidelines (PDF)

IDSA and HIVMA fully support the new age-based screening guidelines for the Hepatitis C virus released by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ). Adoption of the newly recommended guidelines, which include the one-time screening of all Americans born during the period of 1945 to 1965, will lead to more effective management of Hepatitis C.

Physician Groups Appeal to CMS to Reevaluate the Penalty Timeline (PDF)

IDSA and other groups urge CMS to re-evaluate the penalty timelines associated with these programs and examine the administrative and financial burdens and intersection of these various federal regulatory programs. We also urge CMS to use its discretionary authority provided by Congress under these programs to develop solutions for synchronizing these programs to minimize burdens to physician practices, and propose these solutions in the physician fee schedule proposed rule for calendar year 2013.
