    IDSA Jointly Provides Feedback on the National Quality Forum Measure Endorsement Process

    IDSA has joined 31 other organizations to provide comments on the National Quality Forum (NQF) Measure Endorsement Process. The undersigned organizations believe that there are still deficiencies that need to be resolved, specifically around endorsement review timelines, the implementation of updated evaluation criteria, measure testing, and eMeasure requirements.

    IDSA Leads Groups in Letter to CMS on Stewardship (PDF)

    IDSA was joined by 33 other organizations in a letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) advocating that hospitals and long-term care facilities be required to implement an antibiotic stewardship program (ASP) as a Condition of Participation (COP) in Medicare and Medicaid.  CMS is known to be actively considering the proposal.  The recommednation was also made by the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) in their recent report on combatting antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

    IDSA Jointly Applauds the Introduction of the Ensuring Access to Primary Care for Women & Children Act, S. 2694 (PDF)

    IDSA jointly applauds the efforts of the Ensuring Access to Primary Care for Women & Children Act, S. 2694. This legislation will help ensure Medicaid enrollees have access to vital primary care services delivered by primary care and related subspecialty physicians, by extending current-law payment rates under Medicaid for certain primary care and immunization services to at least the level of Medicare through 2016.

    IDSA Comments on Medicare Program Revisions to Proposed Payment Policies under the Physician Fee Schedule for CY 2015 (PDF)

    IDSA provides comments on the CY 2015 Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) proposed rule regarding changes to the code valuation process, Medicare Telehealth Services, Chronic Care Management, the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), the Physician Resource-Use Feedback Program and the Value-Based Payment Modifier (VBM), the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and the Physician Compare Website, among other Part B related issues.

    IDSA and HIVMA Provide Comments on Medicaid's Restriction on Providers Treating HCV (PDF)

    In response to action taken by some State Medicaid programs to restrict the specialties of providers who can prescribe drug therapies to treat hepatitis C virus (HCV), the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) appeal to the CMS Administrator to recommend that Infectious Diseases (ID) Specialists and other HIV providers be covered prescribers of all HCV medications. A similar letter was also sent to the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) and National Association of Medicaid Directors (NAMD).

    IDSA Jointly Comments on the Physician Payments Sunshine Act (PDF)

    IDSA jointly comments on the implementation of the Physician Payments Sunshine Act (Sunshine Act) and to request an expanded timeframe to allow recipients to register, review, and dispute their data in the Open Payments System before publication.

    IDSA Comments on Medicare Program FY 2015 Inpatient Prospective Payment System Proposed Rule (PDF)

    IDSA provides comments on the FY 2015 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) proposed rule regarding the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program, the Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program, the Hospital-Acquired Condition Payment Policy, and additional proposed changes that link to broader infection-related issues. 

    Cognitive Specialty Representation in the NQF MAP Clinician Workgroup (PDF)

    IDSA jointly provides comments with other specialty societies to the National Quality Forum (NQF) to advocate for Cognitive Specialty Representation in the NQF Measure Applications Partnership (MAP) Clinician Workgroup.

    IDSA Collectively Comments on 2014 EHR Incentive Program Criteria (PDF)

    Alongside over 40 medical organizations, IDSA comments on the 2014 Medicare & Medicaid EHR Incentive Program criteria. Immediate concerns of respective members' ability to comply with the new Meaningful Use criteria in such a short period of time is expressed as well as recommendations to extend the timeline to meet the 2014 requirements and increase flexibility for inclusion of as many providers as possible.

    IDSA Jointly Applauds the SGR Repeal and Medicare Payment Modernization Act, H.R. 4015/S. 2000 (PDF)

    IDSA, in coalition with multiple internal medicine and subspecialty societies, applauds the bipartisan agreement by the House Energy & Commerce, Ways & Means, and Senate Finance Committees on comprehensive legislation to repeal Medicare’s Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. In addition, the societies urge Congress to continue efforts and expedite this legislation to the floor for a vote and enact it before prior to the next schedule SGR payment cuts on April 1, 2014.
