IDSA, PIDS and SHEA Comment Jointly to NVAC on Health Care Personnel Influenza Vaccination Recommendations (PDF)
IDSA, PIDS and SHEA urged the National Vaccine Advisory Committee to strengthen its draft recommendations to strongly recommend policies for mandatory influenza vaccination of all health care personnel, unless valid medical contraindications exist, as the most efficient and reliable way of achieving targeted immunization rates.

IDSA Comments on CMS Proposed Rule on Influenza Vaccination Standard for Certain Participating Providers and Suppliers (PDF)
IDSA submitted comments supporting the CMS proposed rule that would require certain Medicare and Medicaid providers and suppliers to offer all patients an annual influenza vaccination.

IDSA, SHEA, and PIDS commented on the HHS Action Plan to Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infections Tier 2 modules, commending HHS for expanding the Action Plan to include Ambulatory Surgical Centers, End-stage Renal Disease Facilities, and Influenza Vaccination of Healthcare Personnel.

In a joint letter to HHS Secretary Sebelius, IDSA and SHEA urged that the department implement strengthened policy to require mandatory immunization of health care personnel against influenza.

IDSA Letter to CDC on Draft Guidance (PDF)
IDSA supports CDC’s draft guidance, "Prevention Strategies for Seasonal Influenza in Healthcare Settings," containing infection prevention and control measures that should be implemented in response to seasonal and H1N1 influenza, but notes the guidance should also support mandatory influenza immunization of health care workers.
