The IDSA Education and Research Foundation supports research and education activities that improve patient care and provide information about infectious diseases for the benefit of physicians, scientists, health care professionals and the public. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Programs

The IDSA Education and Research Foundation supports the following programs:

AIDS Training Program for Physicians: This joint project of IDSA and the HIV Medicine Association trains physicians from resource-constrained countries in HIV/AIDS care appropriate to their countries' needs and capacities.

Center for Global Health Policy: The Center promotes evidence-based U.S. action on global HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis by drawing on the expertise and knowledge of the members of IDSA and HVMA.

Joint Research Awards: Co-sponsored with the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, these annual Postdoctoral Fellowships and Young Investigator Awards were established to promote research in infectious diseases by promising young scientists.

Medical Scholars Program: This program offers scholarships to medical students with mentorship by an IDSA member or fellow. It helps attract the best and brightest to the field by giving medical students a first-hand look at the challenges and opportunities of working in infectious diseases.

Minority Clinical Fellowship: This program enables underrepresented minority physicians to gain HIV experience and expertise in a clinical setting post-residency. The goal is to increase the number of African American and Latino physicians who have the expertise and the commitment to provide clinical care to HIV positive patients from minority communities.

National Network for Immunization Information: NNii provides up-to-date, science-based information on immunization to health professionals, the media, policy makers and the public. IDSA is a founding partner of NNii.

Seasonal & Pandemic Influenza Meeting: This meeting is held to bring together scientists, clinicians, publich health officials, and policymakers to address issues related to prevention and preparedness for seasonal and pandemic influenza.
