IDSA Applauds Passage Of 2023 Funding Bill

The Infectious Diseases Society of America applauds President Biden for signing the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 into law. The law authorizes a loan repayment program that will help strengthen the infectious diseases workforce and provides needed funding to better prepare the nation for future pandemics – top priorities IDSA has been working with the Administration and Congress to address.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 funds key public health priorities, such as combatting antimicrobial resistance, increased investment in infectious diseases research and additional funding for global health initiatives.

IDSA looks forward to our continued work with the Administration and Congress to improve our nation’s ability to respond to public health crises like pandemics, as well as ensure funding for the loan repayment program that will strengthen the infectious diseases workforce necessary for a robust and equitable response.

Carlos del Rio, MD, FIDSA – President, Infectious Diseases Society of America
