Career Paths in ID

The dynamic and evolving field of infectious diseases offers a variety of exciting career options.

HIVMA Medical Student Program

The HIV Medical Students program awards grants for up to three years to medical student and mentor pairs to support a longitudinal HIV-related clinical learning and/or research project and mentor relationship during medical school.

IDSA Foundation Medical Scholars Program

This program has supported over 610 medical students with mentorship by IDSA and HIVMA members, giving the best and brightest in the field a first-hand look at the challenges and opportunities of working in infectious disease.

IDWeek Mentorship Program

The IDWeek Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for medical students, residents, and fellows to closely interact with leaders in their respective areas of investigation or career interest.

ID Match

In October 2015, IDSA's Board of Directors approved the adoption of an "all-in" Match policy for the 2016 Match cycle, at the recommendation of the ID Training Program Directors' Committee and the ID Recruitment Task Force.

Medical Student Interest Groups

IDSA is offering stipends to eligible established or developing student infectious disease interest groups at medical schools.
