HHS Tickborne Disease Working Group Update

The Department of Health and Human Services Tickborne Disease Working Group has produced three topic briefs through HHS researchers and is preparing to have subcommittees report their findings and recommendations at an upcoming meeting. IDSA has submitted comments ahead of this meeting, praising the work done on the topic briefs and urging the Working Group to ensure that the same level of scientific rigor used to produce the briefs is similarly applied to the conclusions and recommendations of the subcommittees. A previous iteration of this working group finished its work with a Report to Congress released in December 2018. The current group aims to issue a report at the end of this year.

IDSA will continue to advocate for an evidence-based approach to tickborne diseases policy that best serves the interests of patients and public health, monitor the working group’s activities and provide updates as more information becomes available.
