HIVMA and IDSA Submit Comments on HHS STD Plan

IDSA, HIVMA, and PIDS, along with the National Coalition of STD Directors and Treatment Action Group, responded to the Department of Health and Human Services Request for Information for its first Federal STD Action Plan highlighting issues increasingly raised by IDSA and HIVMA members, including the need to address the high costs of STD screenings and treatment; inconsistent access to benzathine penicillin G (BPG); limited coverage of STD screening and treatment by some insurers; and insufficient attention and resources to STD prevention with young people and adolescents who account for half of new STD cases. The release of the plan is anticipated in 2020. Read the full comments online.
