Zanthia Wiley, MD
Emory University School of Medicine

Zanthia Wiley, MD, is fortunate to educate in many arenas to those with different levels of healthcare literacy.  She teaches medical students, residents, ID fellows, and pharmacy residents.  She is also fortunate to educate the community about the importance of vaccinations. These venues are as small as a few people at a shelter for people experiencing homelessness to the largest national organization of African American physicians, the National Medical Association.

How have you integrated medical education into your career?

Everything that I do integrates education in some format. Although the past few years have been challenging, the expansion of the use of virtual platforms has allowed educators to reach audiences both far and wide. I take full advantage. The ability to reach such diverse audiences has been very gratifying.

What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your career as an educator thus far?

The most rewarding aspect of my career as an educator has been the honor of teaching trainees when they are the most malleable and, subsequently, watching them grow, gain confidence, and become our next generation of educators. Nothing better than watching learners flourish.
