IDSA Joins HHS We Can Do This COVID-19 Treatment Campaign

The Infectious Diseases Society of America is honored to partner with the Department of Health and Human Services on its We Can Do This campaign aimed at encouraging and assisting physicians and other health care providers to talk with at-risk patients about COVID-19 treatment benefits and the importance of rapid diagnosis and treatment (test to treat) options by providing them with plain-language, patient-focused tools.

The materials provided through the campaign will be available in English and Spanish and will guide discussions between providers and patients about who is at high risk for severe disease from COVID-19, who should seek medical care at the first sign of infection, the importance of rapid treatment in decreasing the risk of hospitalization and death and how to prevent the spread of infection.

“Infectious diseases doctors have been on the front lines since the earliest days of COVID-19, working side by side with other health care providers to prevent and treat SARS-CoV-2 infections,” said IDSA President Carlos del Rio, MD, FIDSA. “Despite declining rates of infection, COVID-19 is still a concern, particularly with the emergence of new variants. This campaign will help providers communicate with patients, especially those at high risk, about how important it is to seek treatment right away.”

IDSA will share the We Can Do This campaign resources and messages with its network of infectious diseases providers and other front-line health care workers via its website, newsletters, social media channels and on its COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network to provide up-to-date tools and resources to clinicians working to win the fight against COVID-19. The campaign will run through the end of March.
