Denise is a peer specialist with training in HIV prevention, retention in care, harm reduction and community outreach. She specializes in peer roles, boundaries, ethics, rights and responsibilities of patients, confidentiality and communication. Denise translates this training and experiences to each patient interaction. She is an active listener, is culturally competent and meets the needs of the patients where they are. Prior to her current role, she obtained an associate’s degree in computer science from Broward College and obtained certifications in HIV prevention, covering U.S. HIV epidemiology and prevention strategies. Denise is passionate about the population that she serves and works each day to improve the quality of lives of the population of people with HIV and those affected by it.
