Evan Thornburg, MA, currently serves as the health equity officer for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health in the Division of HIV Health and is an expert in vulnerable and marginalized populations in health care and public health. Thornburg specializes in health equity project designs, equity assessment of clinical systems, equitable health policy and comprehensive workshops on health equity, health disparities, social determinants of health and vulnerable populations. Thornburg grew up between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Houston, Texas, received her BA in American studies/civilizations from Ursinus College and a master’s in urban bioethics/medical ethics at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, where she focused on the ethics of biotechnology, AI, social media and the public health threats of medical and health mis/disinformation and conspiracies. Thornburg also has training and holds certificates in geroscience, implementation science and AI in health care.
