Gopi Patel, MD, MS, FIDSA

Gopi Patel, MD, MS, FIDSA, is professor of medicine (infectious diseases) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, hospital epidemiologist at The Mount Sinai Hospital and medical director for antimicrobial stewardship for the Mount Sinai Health System. Her work focuses on infection prevention, emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and preparedness and response to infectious disease threats. She has played a key leadership role in institutional preparedness and response to emerging infectious diseases and public health emergencies, including the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Her work bridges clinical infectious diseases, hospital epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship and health system operations, with an emphasis on translating evidence into effective infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship practices. She is also committed to education, mentorship, and advancing the infectious diseases workforce through professional service and leadership.
