Shira Doron, MD, FIDSA

Shira Doron, MD, FIDSA, is an infectious diseases physician. She serves as executive medical director of infection prevention and health care epidemiologist for the AdventHealth Central Florida Division. A Fellow of IDSA, she is the incoming chair of the IDSA Practice and Quality Committee and former chair of the IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Centers of Excellence Committee. She also sits on the IDSA Pandemic and Outbreak Preparedness Panel. She has a long history of consulting work with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in the area of antimicrobial resistance and infection prevention in non-acute care settings such as nursing homes, LTACHs and veterinary hospitals. She was a lead advisor to Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Doron’s research interests have included antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship strategies, the intestinal microbiome and OneHealth.
