IDSA’s Board reflects the breadth of talent, perspectives and experience across our membership. As we continue advancing our strategic priorities, we are looking for leaders who are passionate about strengthening the infectious diseases field and advocating for patients. We strongly encourage members at all career stages, including those earlier in their careers, to consider applying. Fresh perspectives are essential to shaping IDSA’s future. We value a Board that brings diverse skills and experience to the table, including expertise in compensation and workforce issues, pediatric care, HIV care, public health practice, private practice, research and education. Leadership experience and prior engagement with IDSA — such as committee service or other volunteer roles — are also highly valued.
For this recruitment cycle, the Leadership Development Committee has identified several areas of particular need to help advance the Society’s strategic plan:
Ensuring gender balance
Public health expertise
Pediatrics representation
PharmD representation
In selecting candidates, we will consider demonstrated leadership, commitment to IDSA’s mission and the ability to contribute meaningfully to Board deliberations. Experience within IDSA and leadership roles in other national or international organizations are both valuable pathways to service.
Throughout the process, we will keep our goals of inclusion, diversity, access and equity front and center. Our definition of diversity is broad and includes race, ethnicity, gender, age, work setting, geographic region, professional focus and areas of expertise, among other factors. Building a strong and inclusive slate of candidates ensures that our leadership reflects the full strength of our community and positions IDSA to lead with vision and impact in the years ahead.
