ID Abstract Guidance Program

ID Abstract Guidance Program
The ID Abstract Guidance Program connects accepted IDWeek presenters with experienced mentors who provide individualized feedback and coaching on oral and poster presentations. The program is designed to help presenters strengthen their communication skills, enhance presentation quality and build connections within the ID community.
The program is particularly beneficial for:
- First-time IDWeek presenters
- Early-career professionals
- UME and GME presenters
- Anyone seeking feedback to strengthen their presentation skills
Program Overview
Participants are paired with a mentor who provides one-on-one guidance before and during IDWeek. Mentors offer feedback on presentation organization, delivery, slide design, messaging and audience engagement.
The program includes:
- A mentor-mentee match based on presentation type and interests
- A pre-IDWeek coaching meeting
- Review and feedback on presentation materials
- Attendance at the presentation or poster session (virtually or in person, when possible)
- A follow-up discussion and feedback session
Both virtual and in-person participation options are available.
Presenters should be prepared to share their presentation materials with their assigned mentor and identify specific areas where they would like feedback.
Consider asking for guidance on:
- Organizing content effectively
- Creating impactful slides or posters
- Delivering a concise and engaging presentation
- Managing presentation nerves
- Responding to audience questions
Mentors do not need to be content experts in the presentation topic; the focus is on presentation skills, communication and professional development.
