IDSA Launches Print Opt-Out for The Journal of Infectious Diseases

In response to member feedback, the Infectious Diseases Society of America has launched a print opt-out option for all IDSA members that receive biweekly issues of its journal The Journal of Infectious Diseases in hard copy. Members that prefer not to receive JID in print may now update their preferences to receive the journal’s regular issues in electronic-only format.

IDSA members have been eager to reduce the environmental impact of the IDSA journals. In response to member feedback, IDSA has developed a plan with its publishers at Oxford University Press aimed at reducing reliance on print for its scholarly publications.

Members who opt out of JID in print will continue to have full access to all JID content as soon as it is published online, along with the robust search capabilities offered by the JID website, on-the-go access through the IDSA journals app and more.

To opt out of JID’s biweekly issues in print, members should log in to their member profile and select “electronic journals only” under the section “JID Journals.” (Note that mailing lists are sent several weeks in advance, so members may receive one or two final print issues after updating their preferences.)

Published continuously since 1904, The Journal of Infectious Diseases is the premier global journal for original research on infectious diseases. IDSA also publishes Clinical Infectious Diseases as well as Open Forum Infectious Diseases, a fully open access, online-only journal.

If you have questions about the IDSA journals or opting out of JID in print, please contact Lisa Junker, IDSA’s senior director of publishing & content strategy.
