General program questions
No. iDMentorship365 is free for both mentors and mentees. There is no application fee and no cost to join the program.
The program runs for 12 months beginning in fall 2026. Mentors and mentees are expected to connect at least four times throughout the year and are encouraged to meet more frequently as your relationship develops. Additional programming — including webinars and peer discussions — is available but optional. The time investment beyond your core meetings is flexible and shaped by you and your match. IDSA is here to help support your commitment and facilitate connection.
Matches will be announced in fall 2026. You’ll receive an email with your match details, onboarding instructions and next steps to get connected.
We offer a brief rematch window shortly after matches are announced. You can submit a rematch request during that period, and we will do our best to accommodate. Rematches are based on availability and are not guaranteed, but we take every request seriously.
Yes. Residents, fellows and early-career professionals within one to three years of completing fellowship are eligible to apply for both roles. If you apply as both, priority will be given to placing you as a mentor first.
Mentee slots are limited each year, and not all applicants are guaranteed a spot. Selection is based on alignment with program goals and training level. We encourage you to apply early — and if you are not selected in a given year, you are welcome to reapply for the next cohort.
Mentorship for the next generation of ID leaders
Whether you’re a medical student just beginning to feel the pull toward infectious diseases, a resident with ID rising to the top of your specialty list, or a fellow or early-career ID professional ready to build something lasting, iDMentorship365 was built for you.
We connect emerging ID professionals with experienced mentors who have navigated the same crossroads: specialty decisions, fellowship applications, contract negotiations and work-life balance. This community is your resource for ongoing conversation and connection as your career takes shape.
Mentee participants receive structured guidance from ID leaders eager to see you grow, curated programming designed for the current chapter of your training and a network built on honest connection and shared interests. From salary negotiation to finding your niche in ID, this is the professional support system you’ve been waiting for.
Mentoring the next generation of ID professionals is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in the field you love. With support and resources provided by IDSA, mentors will share valuable knowledge, help shape careers and open the door to exciting opportunities, all while reconnecting with what drew them to ID in the first place.
Travel stipends & reimbursement
Mentees who attend both the iDMentorship365 Luncheon and the Network & Chill Reception at IDWeek 2026 are eligible for the travel stipend. Both events must be attended — partial attendance does not qualify.
When you apply to iDMentorship365, you’ll be asked whether you plan to attend IDWeek. If accepted into the program, eligible mentees will receive an invitation to set up an account for payment processing ahead of IDWeek. However, payments will not be processed until after IDWeek, once we confirm your attendance and you complete your post-event survey.
The travel stipend is $750. There is no partial amount for attending only one event.
Yes. Mentees who receive an IDWeek Abstract Travel Award are not eligible for the iDMentorship365 travel stipend. Mentors are not eligible for travel or registration support through iDMentorship365.
