Antimicrobial Resistance Committee
To advance through public policy and advocacy activities the development of new antimicrobial agents where unmet need exists and the reduction of the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance; to make recommendations to the Board of Directors about how the Society can best further policy and advocacy efforts in these areas; to prioritize for government relations staff the federal funding needs; and to serve as IDSA’s primary point of contact for matters under its charge with Congress and the relevant federal agencies represented.

Clinical Affairs Committee
To monitor, develop and make recommendations to address issues related to infectious disease clinical practice; to monitor and make recommendations to address issues relating to the practice of hospital epidemiology and infection control; to monitor and advocate with Medicare and other third-party payers appropriate coverage and reimbursement for infectious disease services; to develop and make recommendations on providing products and services to improve the practice efficiency of infectious disease clinicians; to identify and suggest clinicians to serve on other committees, task forces, work groups and panels convened to develop practice guidelines; and to make recommendations on activities/issues under its purview that involve federal legislation or regulation.

To oversee issues related to the accreditation of all IDSA CME activities, along with IDSA’s re-accreditation process; to review and evaluate all of IDSA’s CME activities to ensure compliance with ACCME regulations and criteria, to include the development of improved assessment modalities to comply with new outcomes-oriented requirements; and to assist and guide future IDSA ACCME re-accreditation processes, to include obtaining accreditation with commendation and a six year accreditation in the next re-accreditation cycle.

COI Ethics Committee
Advances in the field of infectious diseases depend on a collaborative relationship between IDSA members and industry. Conflicts of interest (financial and non-financial) exist in many forms. This committee updates, administers and recommends enforcement actions for the Society’s Conflict of Interest and Ethics policies. The committee reviews COI disclosure forms to determine eligibility for select Society programs and roles (practice guidelines, leadership positions, etc.).

Global Health Committee
To promote evidence-based, robust U. S. led policy responses to global infectious disease threats, including HIV, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, emerging and resurgent infectious diseases like Ebola, Zika, Dengue, Chikungunya, globally neglected epidemics such as Hepatitis C, and global health security and public health preparedness activities. Quality Improvement Committee
To promote valid performance measures that IDSA members can implement to improve patient care outcomes in infectious diseases; to monitor and respond to the activities and policies of the federal agencies and key organizations involved in quality improvement and performance measurement; to investigate the feasibility of developing a registry for members to report and compare results on standard measures of patient care and outcomes; to provide both online and in-person (via IDWeek) educational resources that will inform IDSA members about quality improvement in general and applicable performance measures; and to approach quality measurement of ID clinical care in a manner that promotes the value of ID specialists to the broader health care system.
